Mr. Turunen has worked in the Ministry since 1974, as Director General since 1984. He is chairman or member in many national and international official committees. He is and has been member of supervisory boards in some state-owned energy companies: Neste Oy (oil/86-97), Imatran Voima Company (electricity/85-97), Fortum (oil and electricity/97-2000), Vapo Oy (peat/84-2002) and also in Gasum Oy (gas/94-), National Grid Company, Fingrid, Member of the board (1997-3/2006), Ekokem Oy Ab, Member of the board (2004-) and Outokumpu Oyj, Member of the board (2006-).
